Paver Installation in Homestead, FL

Pavers are only as good as the base they sit on. Greene & Stone Outdoor handles paver installation for Homestead and South Dade homes: patios, driveways, walkways, and pool decks in concrete pavers, brick, or travertine, each set on an excavated and compacted base so the surface stays level and tight.

The real problem

Why Pavers Sink, Shift, and Grow Weeds

Sunken corners, open joints, and weeds in the sand trace back to the layers you cannot see. Much of Homestead and the Redland sits on thin, rocky soil over limestone, and lower ground toward the bay is marl that holds water. Your pavers last when the base is built for the ground under your lot.

  • “My last pavers sank and shifted within a year.”
  • “Weeds and ants keep coming up through the joints.”
  • “Every bid lists the paver and says nothing about the base.”
  • “I cannot tell if I need concrete pavers, brick, or travertine.”
  • “Water sits on the patio for a day after it rains.”
  • “I want the driveway, the walkway, and the patio to match.”

What you get

What Paver Installation Includes

  • Excavation and a compacted base. The ground is dug to depth and the aggregate is compacted in layers, so your surface stays flat under feet and tires.
  • Concrete pavers, brick, and travertine. You see how each one handles heat, color, and cost before you pick, so the material fits how you use the space.
  • Pattern, border, and color layout. Herringbone, running bond, or a French pattern is drawn before the first paver goes down, so the cuts land where you expect them.
  • Edge restraint on every open side. A fixed edge holds the field together, so the outer rows do not creep into the lawn.
  • Slope and drainage. The surface is pitched to move rain off the pavers and away from the house, so water does not stand after a storm.
  • Jointing and sealing guidance. Joints are filled and compacted, and you leave knowing how to care for your stone and how often.

Choosing the material

Concrete Pavers, Brick, or Travertine

Three materials cover most paver work in South Florida, and each has a clear strength.

Concrete pavers
The widest range of colors, shapes, and sizes. A single damaged paver lifts out and is replaced.
Clay brick
The color is fired through the brick, so it holds in the sun. Shapes and shades are more limited.
Travertine
Natural stone that stays cooler under bare feet, which suits a pool deck. It benefits from sealing every few years.

Part of a larger plan

Most projects combine more than one of these. The pieces are designed together so they work as one finished space.

How the Project Comes Together

  1. 1

    Site Visit and Consultation

You walk the property with us and tell us how you want to use the space. We look at the soil, drainage, sun, and existing features, then talk through a realistic budget before anyone draws a line.

  2. 2

    Design and Proposal

You get a design and a clear, itemized proposal for the whole project, not a vague range. Nothing is ordered or scheduled until you approve both the plan and the price.

  3. 3

    Construction and Build

One team handles the work in the right sequence, coordinating the licensed crews who build it. You have a single point of contact for the entire project, so questions get answered the same day.

  4. 4

    Walkthrough and Finish

You walk the finished space with us, and it is not done until you say it is. You leave with care guidance and a clear picture of how everything was built.

What it costs

What Drives the Number

Square footage, the paver or stone you pick, grade change, and equipment access move a paver price more than anything else. Every project ends in an itemized proposal after a free site visit, so you are never working from a guess.

Common Questions from Homestead Property Owners

How long do pavers last in South Florida?

Concrete pavers and travertine both last for decades when the base under them is sound. The surface itself rarely fails first. Settling, open joints, and weeds come from the base, the edge restraint, or drainage, which is why those three get the attention.

Can pavers go over my existing concrete?

Sometimes. Thin pavers can be set over a slab that is solid, uncracked, and drains correctly, which is common on pool decks and covered patios. A slab that has cracked or settled is removed, since the pavers on top would follow every flaw underneath.

Do paver joints need to be sealed?

Polymeric sand hardens in the joints and slows weeds and ants. Sealing is optional on concrete pavers and recommended on travertine, where it guards against staining. You get the care schedule for your material at the final walkthrough.

Do you build walls and steps with the pavers?

Yes. Seat walls, retaining walls, and steps are built in the same project when the design calls for them. Building them together keeps the heights, caps, and paver courses lined up.

Outdoor living spaces built with the patio

Is paver installation the same as hardscaping?

Hardscaping is the broad word for the built parts of a yard: pavers, walls, steps, and stone. Paver installation is the largest share of it. If you have been looking for a hardscape contractor in Homestead, this is that work.

How long does a paver project take?

Most single paver surfaces fit inside the few weeks a single feature takes on site, with a driveway or a pool deck at the longer end. Rain and permit timing move the schedule more than the paving does. You get the timeline with the proposal.
